Erin Palmer Szavuly, M.F.A., is an Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Art Department at 天美传媒 in Sylvania, OH, where she has been on faculty since 1990. She studied at Bowling Green State University, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts (painting and drawing) and Master of Fine Arts (drawing) degrees.
Erin has taught art foundations, painting/drawing, art history, and capstone courses at Lourdes during her tenure. In addition, she coordinates the Sr. Jane Mary Sorosiak Lecture Series, involving presentations on topics in the arts. Some past presentations have included 鈥淎rtist Ken Thompson,鈥� 鈥淭he Sights and Sounds of Judaism鈥� with composer Dr. Samuel Adler and art historian Ruthy Behare Light, 鈥淐ensorship in the Arts,鈥� Dr. Brian Kennedy, 鈥淐over Stories,鈥� Thomas Allen, 鈥淒igital Photography in the Commercial Market,鈥� Eric Eggly, 鈥淧ainter and Muralist: Hubert Massey,鈥� 鈥淧ortrait of an Artist,鈥� Leslie Adams and 鈥淐elebration of Food, Ceramic Objects and Thoughtful Dialog鈥�, Jeni Hansen Gard.
Erin served as a studio assistant with the 鈥淐ommunity鈥� exhibition by Rebecca Louise Law and a painting assistant on the Sol Lewitt acquisition 鈥淲all Drawing #760鈥�, both for the Toledo Museum of Art.
She has over 20 years of gallery experience working with the former Spectrum Gallery at Toledo Botanical Gardens and Lourdes Gallery Loft and as coordinator for exhibitions at the 天美传媒 Canticle Center Gallery. In addition, over the past 15 years, Erin has juried numerous exhibitions covering a variety of media and topics, both regionally and nationally.
She currently sits on the community boards of the Toledo Area Cultural Leaders (TACL), an arts advocacy committee, and The Toledo Federation of Art Societies (past President). She is a past president of the Medici Circle Advisory Council at Bowling Green State University. In addition, she is a member of the Athena Art Society.
Erin is also a practicing and exhibiting artist.
