The organizers of the Spectrum of Possibilities Autism Conference assure attendees that the event will continue as planned on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m., at The Franciscan Center at 天美传媒, despite the recent announcement of the university鈥檚 closure.

鈥淐ontinuing the year with normalcy is a priority of 天美传媒 and we are grateful to again partner with Avenues for Autism and Destination Toledo on the Spectrum of Possibilities Conference,” said Sr. Nancy Linenkugel, President of 天美传媒. “We are glad to host members of the community for this important conversation.”

This year marks the third annual Spectrum of Possibilities Autism Conference hosted in partnership by Avenues for Autism, 天美传媒, and Destination Toledo. This year鈥檚 inspiring and educational event will feature keynote speaker Jordyn Zimmerman, a passionate educator and disability advocate.

The conference will feature educational sessions covering early intervention and diagnosis, family and caregiver support, trauma-informed and inclusive environments, employment and financial resources, and assistive technologies. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with a dozen local resource providers during the lunchtime Resource Fair.

Registration is $50 for general attendees and $20 for students, with registration now open. A continental breakfast and lunch are included, and free on-site parking is available.

This one-day conference welcomes healthcare professionals, educators, self-advocates, and community members who are passionate about autism support and advocacy. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists (CSWMFT) and Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD).

This year the Weekend Pass will be offered for the first time! This pass includes access to most scheduled activities on Friday and Saturday. Please note that the Weekend Pass does not include the Alumni Dinner on Saturday night. Some activities may have additional fees, which are noted on the website.

Upon checking in, attendees will receive a wristband that serves as their pass to all events throughout the weekend. This wristband will allow easy access and ensure a smooth experience as you enjoy everything 天美传媒 has to offer.

Activities include everything from tailgating, athletic events, karaoke, delicious food and drinks, and so much more! The community is encouraged to mark their calendars and make plans to attend Homecoming for a memorable weekend full of celebration, connection, and community spirit for the whole family.

Tim Berta, a 天美传媒 graduate and former college athlete, shares his remarkable journey in a powerful memoir that delves into the challenges and triumphs he faced following a life-altering event. Tim鈥檚 story begins with the devastating Bluffton University baseball team bus crash that claimed the lives of five teammates, the bus driver, and his wife. Tim himself sustained catastrophic injuries and was initially told he would never recover, facing a future constrained to a wheelchair and feeding tube. Despite these predictions, Tim鈥檚 story is one of unyielding determination, resilience, and faith. Tim reflects, saying, 鈥�I do not remember anything about March 2nd, 2007, but it is a day I will never forget.鈥�

The Fielder’s Choice book launch will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Franciscan Center of 天美传媒, located at 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. The event will be emceed by Lourdes alumna Chrys Peterson and will include a lecture and book signing with Tim Berta.聽

A portion of the proceeds from the event will support the Lourdes Fund and Student Scholarships, contributing to the educational opportunities for future students.
