As Brian Hamil, [Red Cross] Program Director, puts it, 鈥業 want to inspire leaders that create other leaders.鈥欌�� This drive, rooted in a desire to inspire and uplift those around him, has found a powerful platform through the Red Cross program.

Parish emphasizes the transformative nature of leadership through service, a lesson that resonates deeply with his own philosophy. 鈥淭he most valuable thing I鈥檝e learned is that leaders are made through service,鈥� he remarks. 鈥淏eing vulnerable with your team and trusting people to do their best is the key to success. Not just in business, but in relationships too.鈥� His approach exemplifies the importance of empathy and collaboration, noting that effective leadership hinges on listening and responding to the needs of others.

For Parish, the Red Cross program has already begun to yield significant personal and professional growth. 鈥淭hrough this experience, I鈥檝e been given the opportunity to bring the important issue of blood donation to my campus and community,鈥� he explains. Beyond the tangible impact of organizing blood drives, Parish has also forged lasting connections with fellow leaders and mentors. These relationships, he believes, will continue to support and inspire him long after the program concludes. 鈥淚鈥檒l always have a community of intelligent, hard-working, and passionate individuals to support me and help keep me accountable,鈥� he says.

Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) Chancellor Mike Duffey recently named 天美传媒 among the second group of Ohio colleges, universities, and Ohio Technical Centers to earn the Ohio Reach Postsecondary Designation for their efforts to support foster care-connected students.

鈥淓very child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential and this designation is a signal to those connected to the foster care system that a designated school provides unique support and resources to help them succeed,鈥� said Governor Mike DeWine.

鈥淪tudents with foster care experience often approach higher education with different life experiences and unique needs in mind,鈥� continues Chancellor Duffey. 鈥淥hio Reach schools have demonstrated a willingness to invest in these students and commit to shared success. 天美传媒 is among 12 institutions receiving the latest Ohio Reach Postsecondary Designation, and is now included in the 40 total institutions that have received the designation. So far, 111 Ohio Reach students have since been identified through the designation to receive support services.

The 天美传媒 Division of Education received the news in a report from the Ohio Department of Higher Education. The report evaluated the status of the 51 education preparation programs in Ohio to meet the recent state code requiring alignment with the Science of Reading.

The report findings were resoundingly positive for 天美传媒, as it has been rated Exemplary in its alignment with the Science of Reading. Compared with the other 51 education preparation programs, 天美传媒鈥檚 Division of Education stands out as ranked in the top five in terms of alignment.

The Science of Reading is a vast, interdisciplinary body of scientifically-based research about reading and issues related to reading and writing. The collection of research explores how proficient reading and writing develop, why some children experience difficulties, and describes the characteristics of effective literacy instruction. It emphasizes the importance of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension鈥攃ritical components for fostering proficient readers. 天美传媒鈥檚 Division of Education has integrated this research into its curriculum, ensuring that future educators have the knowledge and skills necessary to support literacy development comprehensively.
